The Professional MBA is designed for those wishing to enhance their careers. The services provided by our Career Services staff aim to support this goal.
We believe it is important to have the skills and tools to communicate your value to those within your company. Accordingly, MBA Career Services will offer a one-day, optional Career Development workshop each summer to students enrolled in the program. The workshop will focus on a variety of topics, which may include:
- effectively highlighting your value-added contributions on your resume.
- networking as a tool to increase your value to your employer.
- interviewing for your next promotion (including a mock interview with immediate feedback).
As our part-time students evaluate opportunities that their MBA degree can provide, we strongly encourage them to use a variety of networking tools listed below to enhance their careers.
- MBA Symplicity (password required) - Utilize our Illinois MBA alumni database to view where full-time and part-time students are currently working.
- LinkedIn - This online database is another great way to access Illinois MBA alumni, as well as other professionals who link to our alumni group. If you haven’t already set up a Linked In account, you will want to do so and also join the Illinois MBA group.
- Always Illinois - Join this online community of Illinois affiliates and gain access to current job listings and explore more networking opportunities.
Another great resource for our part-time students is the use of our MBA Career Services libraries. We have a great variety of career-enhancing books and other media located in the Career Services offices. The available media list can be accessed via the MBA Symplicity Document Library, which is also home to electronic resources such as a standard resume template for our working professionals.
