Dave Donsbach Recent Illinois Part-time MBA graduate Dave Donsbach definitely learned a few things about time management as a student in the Part-time Evening MBA for Working Professionals. He learned how to manage his time not only between a full-time job and school, but also training for marathons, getting married, and becoming a new father.

As a Senior Accountant at Carle Foundation Hospital, Dave is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports for Carle Medical Supply, Carle Pharmacies, and Windsor of Savoy. He also assists with the Carle Foundation Hospital budget process and serves as the leader of the Medicare cost report. With a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from University of Illinois, he felt the Illinois MBA would enhance the skills he gained from his academic and career experiences.

Dave has had several positive experiences from the program, but the best has been the opportunity to develop his teamwork skills: “I have been able to work with a diverse group of people and learn to work as a team to achieve a common goal.” I have also been able to apply several concepts to my current position, including analyzing a process to improve job efficiency and evaluating projects based on different factors.

Professionally, Dave would like to transition into a financial management or controller position and create an excellent work environment for himself and his employees in order to maintain a balance between work and personal life. He feels the Illinois MBA will help him achieve these goals by providing a better understanding of what motivates employees and how the organizational structure can impact the morale, financial position, and efficiency of an organization.

When asked what advice he could offer to prospective students, Dave says, “Do not wait to go back to get your MBA. The opportunity that Illinois offers is excellent, and time will pass by quickly.”
